Since January 1, 2022, new federal laws protect you from certain unexpected medical bills. These rules are part of the No Surprises Act—and they’re designed to stop unfair, excessive charges.

Here’s what’s covered:
✅ Emergency care must be covered—no prior authorization required
✅ Out-of-network providers can’t overcharge you at in-network facilities
✅ Air ambulance services are included in the protections
✅ Balance billing is restricted—so you won’t be stuck with huge out-of-pocket costs you didn’t agree to
