About Dick Tracy: Your Insurance Detective

How's it going? My name is Richard Tracy, or Dick Tracy. I'm an independent health insurance broker with USA Benefits Group. And what I do, I customize plans for folks. Not just insurance policies, but a plan. I add states as the need arises. I transfer over my appointments with the different carriers, which I'm currently appointed to write for over 80. It just depends on the states and the options that are available. So I write every type of health insurance for the under-65 market. I can write the ACA marketplace, Obamacare, the group plans, whether it's traditional group or the ERISA group plans people are able to merge into. I can write the private short-terms, the health share ministries, defined-benefit fixed indemnities, critical illness plans, cancer plans, yada yada.

So, a bit about what I do: I gather people's details and I customize a plan. Before doing what I do now, I used to work in healthcare, and I had to deal with people's insurances on the inside, and the billing codes, and authorizations, and all that kind of good stuff. So I bring a different angle. And that's why I always have people hop on Zoom, because I like to show what's in the market for health insurance options, but also customize a plan. So I gather people's details: where they live, how old they are, the doctors they see so I can look up networks, any medications they take so I can look up drug formularies. I can show alternative routes to get cheaper care, whether that's for the medications, through the different sites and programs that I have access to or that I know about, even with getting procedures.

So I get people's details and I have them hop on Zoom. I will lovingly turn folks away if they're not able or willing to meet me on Zoom, because again, I customize a plan, not just an insurance policy. I like to map out how to actually use it. I feel there's a big lack of knowledge of how health insurance works, and the healthcare industry, and the relation between the two. And that's where a lot of people get hit with these big unexpected bills, because it's either user error, or the little-known fact that up to 80% of medical claims are coded wrong.

So I'm full-service, and I stay available for my clients throughout the year. You call me, text me, email me. Don't pay any bill; let me take a look at what you have, compare and contrast to the insurance portals, to see how it's billed out, or if it wasn't. So that's why I get people to hop on Zoom, so I can share my screen, go over different plans and prices, and we customize not only an insurance policy together, but also map out when and how to use it properly, so we're not just taken advantage of and paying some big bills.

That's a starting point so I can get an understanding of where somebody's health status is and what options could make sense. And then from there, we hop on Zoom and have an interactive experience where I'm the middleman. I educate, you decide. I show you what's in the market, whether people know about it or they don't. I have different options in different states, and at the very least, it's worth hopping on a Zoom call. Even if I don't write somebody, pro bono, I'll show them how to take advantage of what they have, or what routes they should go based on certain circumstances.
