Most people only know about one door: the marketplace. There are usually more. This quiz asks 6 quick questions and shows you which routes you likely qualify for: private coverage priced on you, group strategies, the marketplace, or a Medicare Supplement, and whether a 2026 marketplace subsidy is even possible for your household. No email required, and your answers never leave your browser. Nobody sees them, including me. I educate, you decide.

Question 1 of 6

Educational only, not a quote, approval, or enrollment advice. "Likely" means how eligibility usually works; the carrier always makes the final call. Your answers stay in your browser and are never stored or sent anywhere.

Why a quiz instead of a quote form?

Because the first question is never "which plan." It's "which doors are even open to you." Eligibility depends on how you earn, who needs covering, where you live, and health, and most people waste weeks applying for the wrong thing or assuming the marketplace is the only game in town. Six questions sort the map, and the last one catches the subsidy knockouts the marketplace never asks about. Then, if you want a second set of eyes on the actual numbers, that's what I do all day: side-by-side comparisons across 80+ carriers, no hard sell, ever.

Common questions about health insurance eligibility

Can I get coverage outside of open enrollment?

Often, yes. Losing job coverage opens a special enrollment window, usually 60 days, then it's gone. Private underwritten plans enroll year-round for people healthy enough to qualify. And in New York, the Essential Plan enrolls year-round for households under roughly 200% of the federal poverty level (down from 250% as of July 1, 2026), pre-existing conditions covered.

Will my health history stop me from getting coverage?

It closes some doors and leaves others wide open. Private underwritten plans ask health questions, and serious ongoing care usually means a decline, so don't waste weeks there. Marketplace plans ask zero health questions and cover pre-existing conditions, period. The strategy is picking the right lane, not forcing the wrong one.

Does this quiz collect my information?

No. It runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are never stored, transmitted, or seen by anyone, including me. No email wall, no signup. If you want help after seeing your result, reaching out is your choice.

What about turning 65?

Turning 65 moves you into Medicare territory. I help with Medicare Supplements, the piece that fills the holes in Original Medicare. I do not sell Medicare Advantage plans, and I will tell you honestly when a supplement is or is not the right fit. The choices you make in your first enrollment window can affect your options for years, so get educated before you pick anything.

Is my result an actual quote or approval?

No. It's a map: the routes you likely qualify for, based on how eligibility actually works. Final answers always come from the carrier. The map keeps you off the dead-end roads; a licensed broker gets you to the address.
